mural description:

This mural was created in partnership with Columbus Airports to memorialize the Tuskegee Airmen who called Columbus’ Rickenbacker Airport home from 1946-48.  For this project, Adam created a bold, dynamic, and unique piece that married his personal style with the stakeholder’s vision of honoring the rich history of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American military aviators in the United States Armed Forces.

The mural features a portrait of General Benjamin O. Davis Jr. accompanied by illustrations of Tuskegee Airmen as cadets as well as pilots. An American flag weaves through the airmen becoming the sky they pilot their planes in and representing a timeline of the airmen's journey. The design features Adam’s unique color palettes and line work creating a dynamic visual that honors these historic heroes.

This project made an impactful mark on the cultural and visual landscape of Rickenbacker International Airport for the 2024 Columbus Air Show. Adam believes in the power of public art to communicate and transform and used this opportunity to create a timeless piece that captures the vibrant history of the Tuskegee Airmen. To be a part of something that is sure to become a defining landmark in our region was truly an honor.
